Dr Caroline West is the author of Wrong Women: Selling Sex in Monto, Dublin's Forgotten Red Light District, a feminist exploration of one of the most legendary red light districts in the British Empire. Published by Eriu Press.

Caroline is also the host of the Glow West podcast, which explores sex, sexuality, and the body. Since 2021, Caroline has written a weekly relationship column for the Weekend Review magazine in the Irish Independent. She has previously worked as the sex and relationship expert for the Elaine Show on Virgin Media One, evoke.ie and Bumble UK and Ireland. She also has over two decades of experience working in social care, primarily with women and children, and currently works as a sexual violence prevention manager at a university.

Challenges:

The goal was to design a website that spotlights Wrong Woman while maintaining a seamless connection to Dr West’s wider body of work. The site needed to:

  • Promote the book effectively and clearly

  • Offer an engaging author profile and showcase media coverage

  • Provide easy access to the Glow West podcast

  • Be accessible, responsive, and welcoming to a broad audience

Outcome

The website positions Wrong Woman at the heart of Dr Caroline West’s author portfolio while presenting her as a trusted voice in relationships, sexual wellbeing, and storytelling. The site is engaging, professional, and accessible, encouraging visitors to connect with her book, writing, and podcast in one seamless digital experience.

Approach:

Book-Focused Storytelling: The website design highlights Wrong Woman as the central story, with bold visuals, thoughtful typography, and clear pathways to explore the book, buy copies, or follow media coverage.

Integrated Author Platform: Visitors can explore Caroline’s wider work, including columns, articles, and podcast episodes, ensuring a cohesive author brand.

Accessibility & Inclusivity: Design decisions prioritised readability, navigation, and device responsiveness to create an inclusive experience for all users.

Calls to Action: Prominent links guide visitors to purchase Wrong Woman, subscribe to the podcast, or connect with Caroline’s writing and social media channels.
